Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, 2026
We spent three days at Disneyland Resort in early September 2026. With a whirlwind three nights (one night at each Disneyland Resort Hotel) and 2-day Park Hopper Tickets, we experienced much of what Disneyland Resort had to offer for its Halloween Time celebration.
Disneyland Hotel
Our trip started with a stay at the Disneyland Resort and time in Downtown Disney. Haunted Mansion-themed decor filled the lobby of the Resort, which fit with the overall theming celebrating the rides and lands found inside Disneyland Park.
Just a few steps from the resort are two security entrances to Downtown Disney, making it a quick way to access both the shopping district and the Parks.
Downtown Disney
We found plenty of spooky decorations of Halloween-related merch, especially in the World of Disney store. Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit took us through the entire shopping area in search of painted pumpkins. A small prize was available either before or after competing the hunt at multiple kiosks around Downtown Disney. Additional versions of the scavenger hunt were available for purchase inside each Park.
Disneyland Park
One of my favorite parts of Halloween in Disneyland compared to Disney World is greater access to entertainment that is only reserved for the Mickey’s Not-So Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom. At Disneyland Park, Halloween Screams, the themed fireworks and projections show, played each night and was included with general admission. Special seasonal Character meet and greets were added throughout the day, including popular villains and costumed characters.
Haunted Mansion is overtaken by Nightmare Before Christmas between Halloween and the New Year. The exterior and interior decorations combine the two themes, with the film soundtrack and film character voiceovers for the ride audio. Jack and Sally are also available nearby to meet guests throughout the day.
Disney California Adventure
For a full Disneyland Halloween Time experience we would have purchased tickets for the Oogie Boogie Bash at Californian Adventure. The event was sold-out long before we booked our trip, but even without the extra cost of after-hours party, there were plenty of special additions that made it worth a special visit during the fall season.
On the Avengers Campus we had an additional option for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout with Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark.
Cars Land had the most fun spooky theming at California Adventure Park, with decorations and decked-out characters.
TIP: Disneyland PhotoPass is included with the cost of the Lightning Lane Multi Pass purchase.
Pixar Pier’s main addition to the fall festivities was Plaza de la Familia, a celebration of Día de Los Muertos and the movie Coco.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the Pixar Place Hotel
For easy access to the parks and more Halloween-themed lobby displays we also stayed at both Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the Pixar Place Hotel.
TIP: A security entrance to both Downtown Disney and the Californian Adventure park was available for guests staying at any of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels.
The Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel lobby was Nightmare Before Christmas themed, with a confectionary display and treats for sale from the Grant Hall Cart just outside the Hearthstone Lounge.
