The ease of staying at a Disneyland Resort began with immediate assistance and bag storage directly from our vehicle (no need to wait in line at a baggage services area). When we returned to our room, which was ready hours before the 4pm check-in, we called for luggage delivery and it arrived within a few minutes.

Rooms

Our Standard View room was the most affordable option, which ranged up to Club Level single rooms and Three-Bedroom Suites. We all agreed it was one of the most upscale rooms we had found at a Disney property. We had plenty of sleeping space, with two queen beds and a couch that converted into a bed large enough for a child or a not-too-tall adult

I can’t imagine a more conveniently located room for park access, especially with a Park Hopper ticket. Within 5 minutes we could go from our room to the Disney California Adventure Park entrance, and to the pool or to the main lobby. Our balcony overlooked the pool area with views of Pixar Pier in the distance. We could even see and hear elements of the World of Color show from our balcony at night.

Resort Layout & Amenities

The lobby was reminiscent of an upscale National Park Lodge, with Arts & Crafts décor accented with stained class windows and lighting. Intricate live floral arrangements adorned both the lobby and pool areas. One of our favorite spots after long days in the Parks was the faux-campfire nook.

The distance to the main Disneyland Park entrance was further than the walk to the dedicated resort entrance to California Adventure, but still an easy 10-minute walk through Downtown Disney.

The pool had some of the poshest lounge seats I’ve ever seen outdoors. Attendants were exceptionally accommodating, offering to help find us seats after verifying our room number and giving us bands for access to the aquatics area. Mornings in the summer in the LA area are typically cool and overcast, so there was plenty of space before lunchtime with the seating filling up in the hot afternoon sun.

Dining

Dining options ranged from quick service and poolside seating to fine signature dining at Napa Rose in the evenings. In the mornings characters (princesses, Mickey and Friends) came and went from two locations near the lobby: the Storytellers Café and Napa Rose. The GCH Craftsman Lounge was convenient for coffee, drinks and snacks.

Live performers played throughout the day and early evening at the GCH Craftsman Bar, where we enjoyed dinner one evening.
