In June of 2024 We booked a Special 3-Day, 3-Park Ticket to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom that included one visit each day to a theme park and one visit to a water park. During our visit Blizzard Bay was closed and only Typhoon Lagoon was open.

We went to Typhoon Lagoon twice, first just after opening on Friday morning and then again just before opening on Sunday. The park filled much more quickly on Sunday and stayed busy. Orlando was excessively hot (even by Florida standards) over the weekend, with high temps reaching nearly 100 degrees. Water shoes were helpful when walking on hot concrete around the park.
Attractions

On Friday we found the lines for the attractions nearly walk-on for the first hour of our visit. We were able to ride all five of the raft rides during this time. Compared to other waterparks in the Orlando area, Typhoon Lagoon has far fewer waterslides and most are on the milder side. Our favorite was the family raft ride Misadventure Falls.

The Typhoon Lagoon Surf pool was unique in that when the wave feature was active the waves weren’t constant, but instead a huge tidal wave that comes every few minutes. The pool was crowded up to the line that adults could stand and children wearing life vests could wait. Stronger swimmers could venture to the deeper section of the pool to body surf the waves. The wave feature was turned off periodically throughout the day for more relaxed swims, with times posted near the park entrance.
Park Layout

The resort theme is a tropical island where a typhoon shipwrecked many different types of boats. The landscaping was lush and tropical. A “Mountain Trail” also takes guests above the park and across a swinging bridge. For nautical nerds it was fun to see the different types of boats that made up the wreckage, from Maine-based lobster boats to large fishing vessels.
Walking one loop around the park is an easy way to find all the main attractions, with the Castaway Creek lazy river as another option for transport.

While most people chose to set up in the beachy area surrounding the lagoon, seating was also available in small shady coves by walking further into the park. We set up next to the Typhoon Tilly’s quick service area.

Dining

Top Tip for Dining: Eat before or after the lunch rush.
We ate close to 11:30am on both days at two quick service locations: Leaning Palms and Typhoon Tilly’s. Both had a Mobile Ordering option and had shaded areas nearby with picnic tables that were reserved for restaurant patrons.
Smaller kiosks with snacks, drinks and smaller meal options were also located throughout the park.
